CEO & Founder, Yomaira Asuncion, a lighthouse of hope and tradition in the world of the Yoruba Lukumi religion. Growing up under the watchful eyes of her esteemed parents, Juan Garcia “Ewin Leti” Priest of Obatala for more than 68 years and Deborah Garcia “Okantomi” Priestess of Oshun for more than 57 years both respected lagba’s or leading elders in our traditional culture, Yomaira has imbibed the depth and richness of the Yoruba religion for more than 38 years.
Life, with its complex lessons, often leads many astray, making them lose their way, purpose, and even themselves. Witnessing this profound disconnection and recognizing the healing potential of her lineage, Yomaira felt a calling. A calling to not only uphold and honor the traditions passed down to her but to extend its balm to souls seeking solace.
Thus was born our Nonprofit organization.
Here, we don’t just guide you back to faith, but we walk beside you, helping you heal, rediscover purpose, realign your life, and immerse yourself in the ancient traditions of the Yoruba Lukumi Practice. We believe in a world where everyone finds their spiritual compass and moves harmoniously in their chosen path.
Join us, as we journey together, reconnecting with ancestral wisdom and rediscovering the rhythms of the soul. Welcome to a sanctuary of healing and enlightenment. Welcome to our family.
Born with a spirit deeply rooted in the rhythms of the universe, Yomaira Asuncion has led an extraordinary life that defies definition. A devoted Orisha Osun priestess with an astounding 38 years of practice, her spiritual path has been complemented by her passion for music, dance, theater and writing.
Yomaira Asuncion discovered her singing talent early, her voice resonating with audiences from the tender age of 14. Over the years, she collaborated with a medley of talented artists like her late uncle Orlando (Puntilla) Ríos, Amelia Pedroso, Pedro Martínez, Roman Díaz, Philbert Armenteros, Felix (Pupy) Insua, Emilio Barreto, Jadele McPherson, Yesenia Selier, Diosdado (Figurín) Ramos, Lacho Rivero, and countless others. Their shared melodies echoed the intricate journey of her life, each note bearing the weight of her experiences and spiritual depth.
She lent her vocals and spirit to a series of esteemed musical groups. With ‘Raíces’ from 1999 to 2001, she explored the depths of her cultural roots. In ‘Aina Candela’ (2003-2005) and ‘Obini Odara’ (2004-2006), she channeled the raw, unbridled energy of her ancestors. The soothing flows of ‘Oriki Omi Odara’ from 2009 to 2011 contrasted with the vibrant beats of ‘Rumba Timba’ in 2012 and the intricate rhythms of ‘Nueva Timba de Cajón’ from 2012 to 2013.
Throughout her career, Asuncion’s dedication and prowess saw her teaching singing Iyere Yoruba song class at the renowned Ibiono Project. Here, she collaborated with the eminent Roman Diaz, a partnership that would produce some of the most captivating musical performances. Their synergy was palpable, with Diaz’s expertise complementing Asuncion’s unparalleled vocal talent.
Not just limited to the world of music, her talents flourished on stage as well. In the play “Mi China de Oro” in 2013, she showcased her theatrical prowess, followed by mesmerizing performances in “Debajo del Laurel” in 2014 and lead with her unique voice the Dia de Reyes procession under the impressive sculpture Fata Morgana by Cuban American artist Teresita Fernandez in 2015.
Her journey, blending spirituality with artistry, makes her a beacon in both the world of Orisha practices and the realm of performing arts. Through each chant, dance, and theatrical act, she imparts the wisdom of the ancestors and the beauty of life’s rhythmic dance.
For the next 8 years Yomaira Asuncion has dedicated herself to raising her 4 amazing children and showing them religion, respect and structure. Yomaira has also committed herself to writing her first Novel “Golden Ripples” and while in that process she adopted a unique way of meditation and named it “Ritual Healing” which provides peace and alignment with your soul and life’s purpose.
Her dedication to love, literature, and peace has not only enriched her own soul but has also touched the lives of countless others. As they continue to walk the path of the divine, their unwavering commitment to Oshun and the Yoruba tradition will remain an enduring beacon of light for seekers of spiritual truth and harmony.
